Process Sequence

Direct or sectional warping frames draw yarn from extensive creel banks, winding parallel strands onto wide warper beams under uniform electronic tension control. The combined warp sheet then passes through a sizing box where protective coatings, such as modified starches or water-soluble polymers, encapsulate protruding bast hairs to increase abrasion resistance. Sizing is followed by drying cylinders and manual or automated drawing-in, where ends are threaded through droppers, heddle eyes, and reed dents according to the target fabric draft pattern.

Technicians inspect the sheet continually to tie off broken filaments and correct crossed ends.

Quality Verification

Preparation logs record sizing pickup percentages, warper speed settings, and broken end frequency per million meters of wound yarn. Sizing add-on rates for 100 percent linen warps typically range between six and ten percent dry weight to prevent fibre fuzzing during shed crossing. High preparation quality directly minimizes loom stop frequencies and ensures clean selvedge formation.
