Scrap Monitoring
Industrial manufacturing logs record the daily quantity of flax fibers that are lost during the wet drafting and spinning processes. This monitoring, called wet frame waste tracking, measures both the soft sliver waste collected from the drafting rollers and the hard twisted waste from the spindles. The system provides the data needed to calculate the real-time efficiency of each spinning frame.
This assessment helps the mill manager identify mechanical wear before it causes major product losses. The standard protocols require each operator to bag and weigh the waste from their assigned frames at the end of every eight-hour shift.
Waste Division
Splashing water and high rotational speeds throw loose fibers from the roving, which must be collected in drainage trays and suction ducts. Under wet frame waste tracking, this wet waste is dried and weighed separately from the dry comb wastes. This division enables the mill to distinguish between preparation failures and drafting failures.
Yield Assessment
When the tracked waste exceeds the mill’s standard threshold, the technicians adjust the tension of the drafting rollers or replace worn leather aprons. This feedback loop reduces the cost of raw materials by ensuring that the maximum amount of fiber is converted into finished yarn. The process keeps production yields high.
