Processing Flow

Processing flows in the mill involve multiple drawing and doubling steps to improve the weight uniformity of the material. In the production of long line sliver, several bundles are combined on a draw frame to blend out any natural variations in fiber length or thickness. This blending creates a continuous strand that is ready for the roving frame where a slight twist is inserted.

Spinning Suitability

Spinning suitability is determined by the average fiber length and the cleanliness of the draw frame output. Using long line sliver is necessary for producing high-count, fine linen yarns with high tensile strength and minimal hairiness. Coarser yarns or industrial twine are made from short tow fibers, which cannot be processed on long-line machinery.

Spinning mills document the properties of each sliver batch in the quality control log to ensure consistent yarn strength during wet spinning.
