Tension Controller
Continuous adjustment of the pull on a moving sheet of fabric or yarn sheet maintains the material’s physical dimensions during automated processing. In the finishing of linen cloth, web tension control is used to prevent the fabric from stretching in the length direction while it is wet. This process is documented in the finishing machine’s recipe screen.
The mill maintains tension within a ten-Newton range, while the buyer’s acceptance sheet specifies a zero-tolerance policy for width shrinkage on the finished fabric.
Tension Adjustment
Automated feedback from the load cells directly influences the speed of the winding and unwinding rollers. If the tension of the linen fabric increases due to water absorption and swelling, the system adjusts the drive motors to loosen the pull. This action is registered in the process automation log.
High tension would deform the open structure of the flax fibers, which is tracked on the yarn distortion report.
Quality Yield
Proper tension during the processing stages ensures that the finished cloth does not lose its texture or strength. Fabric processed under high tension can suffer from skewed patterns or uneven density. These errors are flagged during the pre-shipment inspection on the final grade sheet.
The roll is rejected if it fails the structural tests.
