Activity Record
Daily shift documents record the operational events and mechanical interruptions of each fabric production frame during cloth production. The loom shed log tracks individual machine performance, listing weft breaks, warp yarn failures, and the names of the assigned loom operators. Operators update this record throughout their shift to provide a clear history of fabric defects.
It helps the mill supervisor allocate maintenance personnel to struggling machines before major textile faults develop.
Quality Tracking
Quality inspectors use these registers to link specific rolls of grey linen to the machine that produced them. When a finished fabric shows repeating warp streaks, the loom shed log is retrieved to check if the warp beam tension was adjusted on that specific day. This record lists the exact time of beam changes and any mechanical repairs completed on the shedding mechanism.
By tracing defects back to the log, the mill can identify whether a fault arose from poor yarn quality or a mechanical failure in the loom itself, allowing them to reject sub-standard batches before they reach the dyehouse.
Operational Output
Production efficiency depends on minimizing machine downtime across the entire loom hall. Managers analyze the loom shed log at the end of every week to calculate the overall operational efficiency of the factory. This document remains the primary source of raw data for linen yield audits.
