Motor Controller
An electronic power regulator adjusts the speed of an electric motor by altering the frequency and voltage of the electricity supplied to it. In the flax spinning mill, each variable frequency drive controls the rotation of the draft rollers on the ring frames to maintain a constant yarn twist. This configuration is monitored via the mill’s central supervisor control screen.
The mill’s technical log records the drive’s operating frequency, while the buyer’s quality audit analyzes the resulting yarn consistency curves to ensure the linen meets strength standards. Proper control prevents tension spikes that could snap the delicate flax yarn during start-up.
Speed Regulation
Precise speed management is required to handle the inelastic nature of flax fibers during processing. The motor speed must adapt to the specific fiber grade being processed, as low-grade tow requires slower drawing speeds to prevent excessive breakages. By using these controllers, the mill can adjust spinning speeds to optimize output without sacrificing yarn quality.
This adjustment is logged in the spinning room’s daily output report.
Processing Plant
Energy efficiency and mechanical wear are both improved by avoiding sudden start-stop actions on the spinning lines. The drive soft-starts the heavy frames, which extends the life of the machine spindles and belts. This practice is recorded on the monthly energy savings sheet.
The maintenance team performs weekly checks on the drive’s cooling fans.
