Tension Measurement System
Electronic sensors placed along the warp path provide continuous data on the stress levels experienced by the yarns during weaving. Using load cell warp monitoring allows technicians to observe the dynamic changes in tension that occur with every pick insertion. This technology converts the physical pressure of the yarn into an electrical signal for the loom control unit.
Dynamic Loom Adjustment
The sensors are usually positioned on the back rest roller where the warp ends exit the let-off motion. Through load cell warp monitoring, the loom can automatically adjust the let-off speed to maintain a constant tension as the warp beam diameter decreases. This real-time feedback loop is necessary for weaving linen because flax has very low elasticity and can snap under sudden stress.
Precise control prevents the formation of wavy edges and maintains a uniform fabric density. Continuous tracking also identifies deviations in the let-off drive performance.
Data Logging Utility
Production managers use the recorded tension profiles to optimize the settings for different fabric qualities. Analysis of the information from load cell warp monitoring reveals patterns that correlate with yarn breakage or mechanical wear. These insights enable predictive maintenance and help in the selection of appropriate sizing agents for specific yarn lots.
Constant surveillance of the warp tension minimizes machine downtime and improves the overall efficiency of the mill.
