Tension Sensor
A force-measuring guide roller represents the central mechanical component for tracking fabric tightness in continuous wet processing or finishing lines. As linen fabric runs through the wash boxes or dryers, the load cell dancer roll measures the tension and generates an electrical signal to prevent fabric stretching. This tension value is continuously plotted in the machine’s electronic trend log.
The mill’s operational target is to keep fabric tension below one hundred Newtons to avoid distorting the delicate flax weave, while the buyer’s tolerance for residual shrinkage is checked against this tension history.
Feedback Loop
Dynamic compensation for speed variations ensures that the flax yarn or fabric runs smoothly without snapping. An electronic controller reads the signal from the force sensors and adjusts the speed of the motor drives. If the tension exceeds the setpoint, the drive slows down to relieve the strain on the linen fabric.
This action is registered as a continuous control curve in the system database.
Process Control
Maintaining uniform tension prevents the formation of permanent creases in woven linen during high-temperature washing. If the controller fails to adjust the speed, the resulting high tension can cause permanent skewing of the weft yarns. This parameter is verified during the post-dyeing inspection against the finished width requirement.
