Tension Regulation
Mechanical regulation of yarn resistance on a creel frame ensures uniform yarn delivery during the warping stage of linen processing. Safe implementation of creel tension control prevents yarn breakage as yarn moves from the packages to the warping beam. This process is documented in the mill warp preparation log to maintain consistency across the entire yarn sheet.
Braking Mechanism
Friction devices or electronic braking units act on each individual bobbin to adjust the drag as the package diameter decreases. Through the application of creel tension control, the yarn tension is kept within a narrow, defined window to avoid stretching the flax fibres. When tension fluctuates too widely, the yarn either sags or breaks, causing machine stoppages during warping.
Operative staff monitor these tensions and record average values in the spinning room quality sheet to track beam quality. The mechanical action relies on weighted washers or electromagnetic brakes that respond to speed changes.
Quality Tolerance
Acceptance limits for tension variation are typically set at plus or minus five percent of the nominal tension value specified in the buyer’s contract. Successful execution of creel tension control ensures that subsequent sizing processes achieve uniform starch absorption. This prevents yarn slippage during loom operation.
