Tensile Evaluation
Tensile strength standards define the procedures for determining the breaking force and elongation of single textile yarns. Quality laboratories employ iso 2062 yarn testing to assess the strength of flax yarns before they are sent to the weaving shed. This test establishes the physical capabilities of the yarn under tension.
The final output is recorded on the raw yarn quality certificate that accompanies each export shipment.
Test Execution
The test involves mounting a single strand of yarn in the clamps of a tensile testing machine and extending it until it breaks. Operators in Chinese spinning mills set the gauge length to five hundred millimeters and the rate of elongation to five hundred millimeters per minute. This specific speed simulates the high speed mechanical stress that the yarn will experience during warping and weaving.
The machine calculates the average breaking force in centinewtons and the elongation as a percentage of the initial length. This automated calculation helps to identify weaknesses in yarn lots before they are loaded onto the looms.
Export Compliance
Woven linen fabric quality starts with the selection of yarn that meets the minimum tensile requirements of the buyer. When results from iso 2062 yarn testing fall below the accepted threshold, the mill must re-spin or downgrade the yarn batch. Buyers use these certified parameters to verify that the raw material can withstand modern high speed looms.
These records are kept for three years to ensure batch traceability.
