Beam Organization
Industrial storage areas are designed to protect prepared warp beams from mechanical damage and environmental moisture before they are mounted on looms. In linen mills, weaver beam storage systems prevent the yarn sheets from being compressed or exposed to humidity fluctuations. This protection is critical because any damage to the outer yarn layers can cause warp breaks during weaving.
Utilizing vertical racks or specialized storage carousels keeps the beams off the ground and organizes them for easy access.
Environmental Control
Humidity control in the holding area is essential for maintaining the moisture content of the sized yarn within the optimal range. When weaver beam storage lacks proper climate control, the sized yarn can absorb moisture from the air, causing the starch film to soften and stick to adjacent yarns. This sticking leads to a phenomenon called yarn clinging, which causes severe yarn breakage when the warp is unwound on the loom.
Conversely, dry air can make the size film brittle, leading to excessive shedding of the protective coating. Maintaining a stable temperature and relative humidity of approximately sixty-five percent prevents these quality issues.
Material Handling
Transportation of the beams from the storage area to the weaving shed must be carried out using specialized overhead hoists or transport trollies. This handling minimizes the risk of structural damage to the yarn sheet and ensures safe operation.
