Continuous Imaging
An optoelectronic imaging device captures surface details by constructing a continuous picture from successive single-line acquisitions. Utilizing a line scan vision camera allows high-speed inspection systems to monitor moving webs of linen fabric for weaving errors and localized discoloration. This approach offers uniform lighting and avoids the perspective distortion common in standard area-capture cameras.
It provides a seamless image of endless fabric rolls as they pass through the final quality control frame.
Deployment Setup
Integration of the sensor requires precise synchronization between the conveyor speed and the camera’s internal line rate. The line scan vision camera is mounted perpendicular to the fabric flow, accompanied by a high-intensity linear light source that illuminates only the narrow line being imaged. This configuration ensures that every millimeter of the textile receives identical illumination, eliminating shadows and gradient effects across the full width of the material.
Technicians program the encoder to send pulses that trigger the sensor at intervals corresponding to the textile’s physical movement.
Defect Analysis
Real-time image processing software analyzes the continuous stream of pixels to identify anomalies such as broken warp threads or oil stains. The system logs the coordinates of each defect for subsequent sorting or manual removal. By automating this inspection, mills achieve consistent grading without relying on manual visual checks.
