Processing Force
Mechanical extraction of excess moisture or sizing paste from moving yarn sheets occurs under continuous pressure at the contact point of rotating rollers. This mechanical action represents the dynamic nip load, which is measured in kilonewtons per meter along the roll face. The variable determines the thickness of the paste film and the degree of sizing penetration into flax yarn bundles.
Correct application prevents yarn hairiness during weaving.
Operating Variable
Variations in processing speed and roll hardness alter the effective squeeze action during high speed runs. Because the rubber cover of the roll deforms under pressure, the width of the contact zone changes continuously. This compression creates a hydraulic pressure peak that forces the starch or polymer sizing mixture deep into the core of the flax fibres to lock down loose ends.
Fluctuations in this zone cause uneven sizing pickup which leaves some warp ends unprotected. The pneumatic control system compensates for these variations by adjusting the pressure in real time to maintain a stable force distribution across the entire roll width.
Quality Standard
Industrial guidelines for export-grade linen require precise documentation of production parameters. The mill logs these continuous force measurements on the warp preparation sheet to prove that the yarn sheet has received uniform treatment. Divergences from the buyer specification cause uneven dye uptake or frequent warp yarn breaks in the loom.
The final quality report must show that the dynamic nip load remained within five percent of the target value.
