Machine Arrangement
Industrial spinning assemblies pass combed flax rove through a warm water bath to soften pectins before drawing and twisting the fibers into fine yarn. The wet-spinning frame setup must be adjusted carefully to control the draft ratio and the temperature of the water bath. This warm water softening enables the drawing of individual flax fibers into fine, high-strength yarns with a smooth surface finish.
Tension Regulation
Roller speeds and drafting distances are configured based on the average length of the combed flax fibers to prevent fiber breakage and uneven drawing. The wet roving is drawn between the rollers and then twisted as it is wound onto the spinning bobbins. Water temperature in the bath is kept at sixty degrees Celsius to ensure that the pectins are softened consistently without damaging the cellulose.
This thermal control prevents draft variations and ensures that the spun yarn has a uniform thickness and strength.
Product Quality
Adjusting the spindle speed and traveler weight ensures that the yarn is wound under even tension to prevent yarn breakage. This setup is checked at the beginning of each production run to maintain consistent yarn quality. Spun yarn properties are recorded in the mill ledger to verify frame performance.
