Processing Equipment
Industrial yarn coating is performed in a specialized chamber designed to apply adhesive paste to warp sheets before weaving. This chamber, known as the sizing box, houses the rollers, heating elements, and liquid feed systems required for the treatment. The system ensures that flax yarn strands receive a uniform starch coating to increase their mechanical strength.
It represents the central component of the warp preparation machinery.
Liquid Application
The yarn sheet enters the chamber under controlled tension and is submerged in the heated adhesive bath. Internal immersion rollers guide the fibres through the liquid while steam-jacketed walls maintain a constant temperature to prevent starch coagulation. As the yarns emerge, they pass between heavy squeeze rolls that force the paste into the yarn core and remove any excess liquid.
Precise temperature and level sensors are installed to manage the continuous replenishment of the sizing mixture, ensuring that the concentration of the starch paste remains stable during the entire run. This controlled environment ensures that the yarn has optimal elasticity and strength.
Maintenance Protocol
The operator registers the bath temperature and the line speed on the daily warp treatment sheet. The quality manager checks these logs to ensure the linen yarn has been prepared according to the buyer specification. Failures in temperature control lead to incomplete sizing penetration or surface crusting, which increases yarn breakage rates on the loom.
Keeping the sizing box clean and calibrated is essential for producing high-strength yarn suitable for linen fabric export.
