Protective Packaging
Specialized protective pouches prevent the transmission of water vapour to sensitive textile materials during storage and international shipping. A moisture barrier bag is used to package finished linen yarn and delicate fabrics to protect them from high humidity in transit. It consists of multiple layers of plastic and aluminum foil laminated together to create a sealed environment.
This packaging ensures that the yarn does not absorb atmospheric moisture, which would otherwise alter its commercial weight and cause mildew during ocean freight.
Storage Stability
Warehouse conditions in shipping ports often expose textile shipments to extreme humidity and temperature fluctuations. Placing yarn packages inside a moisture barrier bag maintains the dry state achieved in the spinning mill’s conditioning room. When the yarn arrives at the destination mill, the weight remains identical to the amount recorded on the export invoice.
This prevention of moisture regain is critical for maintaining the accuracy of subsequent warping and cloth production calculations. It is especially useful for high-quality yarn where even a small increase in moisture would distort the thread tension during high-speed warping operations.
Quality Protection
Fibre decay and fungal growth occur when natural flax remains in a damp, enclosed space for several weeks. Sealing the yarn or fabric in a moisture barrier bag eliminates this risk by keeping the relative humidity inside the pack below the threshold required for mold to grow. This protection ensures that the linen is ready for immediate processing upon arrival.
