Transmission Component
A specialized braided rope transfers the motion of the selector hooks in a patterning head to the harness assembly below. The jacquard cord must operate with negligible friction while running through the guide board holes. Synthetic polymers like polyamide or polyester provide the required flexibility and resistance to warm mill environments.
Proper selection of these materials ensures pattern accuracy in complex woven damasks and fine linen fabrics.
Polymer Coating
An external resin treatment prevents the buildup of static electricity and reduces abrasive wear. During weaving, the jacquard cord rubs against adjacent cords and the wooden comber board, generating heat and electrostatic charges that can cause fibers to cling together. Applying a smooth anti-static finish keeps the movement of the cord bundle independent and precise.
This treatment also shields the inner core from moisture fluctuations in the weave room, ensuring that the yarn height remains perfectly uniform throughout the production of the entire fabric run.
Tensile Resistance
Tensile tests evaluate the load capacity of the braiding before installation on the loom. A jacquard cord must support the combined weight of the heddle, the lingo metal weight, and the warp tension without suffering permanent deformation. The elastic limit of the cord determines the maximum speed at which the loom can run without losing pattern definition.
