Contact Circuitry
Mechanical-electrical monitoring assemblies detect the failure of individual warp ends during high-speed textile fabrication. Drop wire stop motions run each warp thread through a suspended metal runner that falls under gravity when tension fails. This descent completes a low-voltage circuit against an electrode bar, triggering an instantaneous stop signal to the loom drive.
Loom Cessation
The mechanical arrest of the weaving process prevents the broken warp end from being beaten into the fabric. When drop wire stop motions activate, the signal triggers an electromagnetic brake that overrides the motor drive. This rapid response prevents complex structural warp defects and minimizes yarn entanglement.
Tension Balance
Ensuring correct tension on flax yarns prevents false stops caused by normal yarn vibration during high-speed weaving. Excessively heavy drop wires can cause micro-abrasions along the delicate surface of spun flax and breakages, whereas excessively light wires fail to drop reliably when sticky sizing residues accumulate on the guides. Mill technicians measure the tension profile across the warp sheet to choose the specific wire mass according to the linen yarn count, meaning the weight is matched precisely to the raw material.
This deliberate selection minimizes friction while guaranteeing that the mechanical drop remains swift and positive.
