Authorized Allowance
Percentage values established by the International Bureau for the Standardization of Man-Made Fibres determine the mass used for commercial transactions. The bisfa commercial regain provides a fixed moisture level added to the oven dry mass of a lot to calculate the bisfa invoice mass. Because flax contains natural humidity, this standard ensures that buyers and sellers trade based on a consistent weight regardless of ambient storage conditions.
It accounts for the hygroscopic nature of the fiber in a way that remains fair for both parties involved in the contract.
Calculation Basis
Fixed coefficients represent the moisture absorption capacity of specific fiber types under standard atmospheric conditions. For flax yarn, bisfa commercial regain is typically set at 12 percent, whereas raw flax fiber might use a different value. These percentages apply when calculating the corrected weight from a moisture test performed on a representative sample of the shipment.
Invoice Impact
Monetary adjustments depend on the deviation between the actual moisture found during testing and the established percentage. If a shipment arriving at a mill in Jiangsu contains 14 percent moisture, the seller must reduce the invoiced weight to align with the bisfa commercial regain. This correction prevents the sale of water at fiber prices.
