Unique Alphanumeric Code
Identification label applied to the end of a fabric roll ensures that every segment of linen can be traced back to its origin. The piece mark contains information about the loom number, the date of production, the yarn batch and the operator ID. It is often stamped onto the selvedge at the beginning and end of each piece.
Inventory Tracking
Management of the warehouse relies on these marks to organize the storage and shipping of finished linen goods. When a roll of fabric moves from the mill to the dye house, the piece mark is scanned to update the central tracking system. This scanning allows the mill to know exactly where every metre of fabric is located in the production cycle.
Precise tracking prevents the loss of material and simplifies the fulfillment of orders. Digital records of these scans provide a real-time view of the mill’s inventory.
Quality Correlation
Analysis of defects found during final inspection is linked back to the production data through the piece mark. If a buyer reports a recurring issue with the fabric, the mill can identify the specific loom and yarn lot responsible for the problem. This connection is necessary for implementing corrective actions and managing supplier claims.
The mark is the primary link in the linen supply chain.
